 Grateful Body is pleased to present you with an extraordinary opportunity! We have procured very rare and authentic rose beads. Each of these one-of-a-kind beads is a lifetime treasure.

  The color of dark-roasted coffee, each bead is traditionally hand made according to a process perfected in the Middle Ages. The creation of these beads - gathering, drying, shaping and rolling - takes nearly two months to complete. Only organic roses are used; each rose is carefully picked at the fullness of its fragrance, and the petals gently removed, inspected and cleaned. A blend of ten or more varieties of roses is used to create a complex, beautiful fragrance. Only "Old Roses" (pre-1867) such as Portland Damasks, Bourbons, and Albas, known for their deep, robust fragrance and tender petals, are used. These roses may have between five and fifty petals each, depending on the variety, so thousands of roses are needed.

  After the gathering, the petals are heated slowly in natural iron kettles for ten hours, and aged up to two weeks before being formed into a deeply fragrant material that is hand-rolled into beads. Each bead is re-rolled four to six times during the drying process to maintain shape and finish over the four-to-five weeks needed to properly dry the beads before drilling. A small amount of rose oil may be used to maintain the softness of the outer bead as the interior dries, until the entire bead can dry and harden completely. Each bead is hand-drilled through the center, and dried an additional length of time to ensure that the bead has shrunk to its final size before it can be used in jewelry or for traditional rosaries. Naturally, the final sizes vary, and none of the beads are perfectly round.
